I am Joel Joseph Mutama, an experienced professional teacher of Biology and Chemistry from Uganda. Teaching is not just my profession — it is my purpose. Over the years I have watched brilliant, hard-working students struggle to find the right teacher at the right time, and equally brilliant teachers struggle to reach them.
While exploring existing online tutoring platforms, I kept meeting the same wall: the verification requirements and payment methods were designed for a world where documents, cards and bank accounts are easy. For most teachers in Africa, they are not. Talented educators were being turned away at the door — not for lack of skill, but for lack of fit.
AfriTutors was my answer to that problem. A platform built for African realities from day one: verification that is thorough but achievable, and payments through the methods our teachers and students already trust — MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money, no card or bank account required.
